The wacky 60s

I have seen this game over the last few years and always fancied playing it. However, other games along that distracted me so I never got to it. After signing up for the Xbox Game Pass recently, I saw it We Happy Few and decided to load it up and have a go.

I am very surprised by how quickly I took this game and absorbed by the story and mechanics of the games.

The world is a strange idealised few of the 60’s in post war England, I am unsure who won the war in this alternative universe but I do know it was not Great Britain. As your character Arthur Hastings comes off the drug Joy, provided to all citizens, he is remembering his past and his brother.

On the run Arthur is trying to find answers as he crafts items, gathers ingredients and avoids the Bobby’s – stealth is a big part of this game. Full of jokes and a little unnerving I am enjoying this game so far; still to complete it and find out what happened!

Signs of the Britain we know, but things did not turn out the same.

Statue with a Russian feel… characters in the game do say ‘Where are the Russians’.

Not just a yellow brick road… watch out for those Bobby’s.

Long time gamer (Doom 1993 and Myst 1993 among the first PC games) I have never lost the interest or the desire to explore landscapes (Skyrim, Dying Light) and craft (Minecraft, No Man's Sky) my way through worlds of different kinds. Even build homes in these landscapes (Fallout 4, No Man's Sky). In recent years games and consoles have allowed players to take photos and video of their game play. This has allowed me to use these in game/console tricks to take photos of bizarre and strange new landscapes and share the wonderful with the world. Kind regards... AI
